Processing Instructions

Collect a 24-hour urine. Urine must be refrigerated during collection. Mix the entire urine collection well by inverting the jug several times. Read the 24 hour urine volume from the marks on the side of the 24 urine jug and write it on the requisition or enter into Atlas. Pour off an aliquot of the well-mixed 24 hour sample into a screw top urine cup to send to MCL.

 

*If 2 or more jugs/containers of urine are collected over time, volumes of each container must be documented and aliquots from each well mixed container (preferably 100 mLs) must be sent separately.
