Test Code OB HCP OB Hypercoagulable Profile
Specimen Draw Volume
5 - Full Blues
2 - Full Lavenders
1.0 mL GRN Pst
3.0 mL Gold SST
Processing Instructions
Beta 2 Glycoprotein and Cardiolipin Antibodies - Draw in a Gold SST tube. Allow tube to clot for 30 minutes and then centrifuge. Aliquot a minimum of 1.0 mL serum.
Homocysteine - Draw in Green PST on ice, centrifuge, aliquot, and refrigerate aliquot. Gold SST are acceptable but takes longer to clot. Specimen must be kept on ice water until centrifuged. Specimen must be aliquoted within 6 hours. Failure to place sample on ice prior to separation from cells can result in a 10-20% elevation of homocysteine levels in the sample.
Lupus Anticoagulant - Draw 2.7 ml in 2 Blue Top tubes. Tube must be filled appropriately to the fill line to ensure accurate results. Centrifuge tube and remove plasma, centrifuge plasma again, and place 1 mL of platelet-poor plasma in 2 aliquot tubes and freeze.
Factor V Leiden - Draw 4 mL in an EDTA Lavender Top tube. Minimum volume is 0.5 mLs Send separate lavender top tube for this test unopened to laboratory refrigerated.
Anti Thrombin III Activity - Draw 2.7 ml in a Blue Top tube. Tube must be filled appropriately to the fill line to ensure accurate results. Centrifuge tube, aliquot 1.0 mL plasma, centrifuge plasma again, and place 1 ml of platelet-poor plasma in an aliquot tube and freeze.
PT 20210 Gene Mutation - Draw 4 mL in an EDTA Lavender Top tube. Minimum volume is 0.5 mLs Send separate lavender top tube for this test unopened to laboratory refrigerated.
Protein C Activity - Draw 2.7 ml in a Blue Top tube. Tube must be filled appropriately to the fill line to ensure accurate results. Centrifuge tube and remove plasma, centrifuge plasma again, and place 1 mL of platelet-poor plasma in an aliquot tube and freeze.
Protein S Free Antigen with Reflex - Draw in a Blue Top tube. Centrifuge tube and remove plasma, centrifuge plasma again, and place 2 mL in 2 plastic vials each containing 1.0 mL and freeze. (Double centrifuged specimens are necessary for accurate results).
