Processing Instructions

Warm infants foot for about 3 minutes with a moist towel or heel warmer to increase blood flow. Disinfect heel skin with isopropyl alcohol, dry, and puncture with sterile lancet. Wipe away first drop of blood with gauze. Allow large drops to form by the spontaneous free flow of blood. Apply ONE large drop of blood directly to each filter paper circle. Completely fill all circles with blood to allow saturation through the paper. Filled circles should appear the same on both sides of the paper.
